Peyi Soyinka-Airewele

Peyi Soyinka-Airewele is a Professor of International Politics at Ithaca College and is currently the Chair of the Tompkins County Human Rights Commission. She served as the first female president of the Association of Third World Studies Inc. (ATWS), and president of the African Studies and Research Forum, and her personal and scholarly work engages and addresses issues of gendered violence, human rights violations, sustainable development, the role of cinema in social transformation, and collective memory in traumatized communities and transitional societies.

Theresa Fulton

Theresa is currently the Vice-Chair of the HRC. 
She is the Director of a small local company working on computational plant genomics, Nature Source Improved Plants, LLC. She also volunteers with Mutual Aid Tompkins and is the Coordinator of the blue Food Sharing Cabinets. 

Peaches Gillette

Peaches Gillette

Peaches Gillette is an essayist, poet, and author of The Breadth of a Tree, which is presently being turned into an audiobook. She is currently working on her second book of poetry and thoughts inspired by her time spent on the road. As a new member of the Dryden School Board, Peaches brings over 45 years of skills and observations as an educator and administrator to the district. She has worked with both private and public school populations.

Greana Kirubaker

Originally from India, Greana completed her Graduate studies from Germany and is currently pursuing research work at the United States in the field of Infection Biology, focused on drug discovery for tropical diseases, aiming towards improved diagnostics and cost effective treatment approaches worldwide.

Ruth Yarrow

Ruth Yarrow

Ruth Yarrow first came to Ithaca in 1964 for graduate student studying ecology at Cornell University.  She and her husband Mike Yarrow raised their family in Ithaca 1979 – 1997 while Ruth organized the Tompkins County Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign and worked as a naturalist at Cornell and the Cayuga Nature Center.  When their children fledged, Mike and Ruth moved to Seattle to work on peace, justice and environmental issues for 18 years.

Casandra Ponton

My name is Casandra Ponton. I've only been with the HRC for a short period of time but I am passionate about making positive changes for our community. I have personal experiences with homelessness, addiction,and the criminal justice system. I have worked with OAR of Tompkins County, Civic Ensemble's Re-entry and am currently volunteering with Alliance of Families for Justice to ensure I stay connected to our community.


Ana Ortiz

Ana Ortiz

Ana Ortiz is the founder and director of No Más Lagrimas/No More Tears, a nonprofit that conducts food rescue and distribution and organizes community events. Ana was born in Puerto Rico and came to the US when she was 16 years old. She enjoyed cooking for community members which led to cooking for larger and larger events, before she could even fully speak English. 

Lady Ajayi

Lady Ajayi

Lady Ajayi is a visiting Assistant Professor and an American Association of University Women (AAUW) International fellow in the Politics department at Ithaca College. Her areas of specialization are in policy and human security studies (gender, migration, human rights, and environmental issues). As a scholar-practitioner with years of experience in teaching, research, advocacy, and community development, Dr. Ajayi's work addresses the intersections of issues bordering on women's rights and protections, domestic and intimate partner violence, migration, and faith. Dr. Ajayi is deeply committed to service and the quest for an effective regime of human rights to protect vulnerable populations through material and actionable channels. 

Mullen Quaye

Mullen Quaye

Mullen Quaye is a recent graduate from Ithaca College, where she  earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Community Health. She is passionate about fair and equitable access to health, advocating for marginalized communities and social justice for all which. She has been involved in working with and serving the elderly population in Tompkins county through her internship with the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center.
