Theresa Fulton
Theresa is a true local, having been born in Endicott and having lived in Candor, Owego, Lansing, Groton, Syracuse and now resides in Dryden. After earning a BS in Microbiology & Genetics from Syracuse University she worked in the Cornell University Plant Breeding department for 14 years while, through the Employee Degree Program, earning an MS in Plant Breeding & Genetics and a PhD in Science Education. She served as the Education & Outreach Coordinator for the Institute for Genomic Diversity, a nonprofit, organizing the African Scientist Fellowship Program, creating educational materials on maize evolution and diversity, and training plant breeders across Africa with an international agriculture program. In 2006 she and her husband co-founded a computational plant genomics company. She continues to be the Director of the Ithaca division of Nature Source Improved Plants, LLC, which also has a division in Mexico, and she serves on the Board of Directors. Theresa volunteers with the Mutual Aid Tompkins group and is the Coordinator of the blue Food Sharing Cabinets. She enjoys reading, hard rock music, cardio kickboxing, yoga and gardening.
