Lady Ajayi
Lady Ajayi is a visiting Assistant Professor and an American Association of University Women (AAUW) International fellow in the Politics department at Ithaca College. Her areas of specialization are in policy and human security studies (gender, migration, human rights, and environmental issues). As a scholar-practitioner with years of experience in teaching, research, advocacy, and community development, Dr. Ajayi's work addresses the intersections of issues bordering on women's rights and protections, domestic and intimate partner violence, migration, and faith. Dr. Ajayi is deeply committed to service and the quest for an effective regime of human rights to protect vulnerable populations through material and actionable channels. She advances the cause of marginalised population across cultures, identifies the manifestations of systemic oppression, promotes gender-responsive policies, helps nurture wholeness, and empowers them to achieve significant results in their work, families, and lives.
Dr. Ajayi is passionate about working across borders to engage the rights, policy, and social justice crisis impacting the lives and struggles of women, children, and under-represented groups. In 2018, her work on migration, refugees, and gender received funding support from the African-German Network of Excellence in Science (AGNES). Part of the grant package was the invitation to apply for the Georg Forster Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Germany. She honors that passion through scholar-practitioner commitments within diverse networks. Some of these include: Head, Research and Outreach for the Creative Youth Community Development Initiative [CYCDI]-Solution 17 for SDGs (Nigeria and the UK); member of the Board of Directors for the Sauti Yetu Center for African Women, NYC; Chair-Standing Committee on Projects in the African Studies Research Forum, member of the editorial board of the International Women's Studies (JIWS); African Women Initiative-Ithaca and Verity Women's Ministry and Network-USA.
