Juneteenth Festival 2024

Juneteenth is the celebration of the legal emancipation of enslaved Black people in the United States - the end of the Civil War on June 19, 1865.  It recalls the very rich history of African Americans in this country, and is also a celebration of their achievements in the continued struggle against oppression. It is a vibrant celebration that commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and community. It is now a federal holiday. In Ithaca, it is celebrated with a parade, music, dancing, and a festival.
